I remember when the internet , the as we know www was made public, yeah yeah I know I am dating myself. I immediately was like HOLY COW people are going to make Millions and they did, unfortunately I had many ideas and not one coding skill so I didn’t get a chance to reap those rewards yet, notice how I said yet.
Then I thought to myself, WOW this could be the beginning of the end of human contact.
I was always an advanced thinker my mind sprints I really should be employed by a tech company just to sit on a idea committee ..because I am light years ahead ..
Anyway, then I said wow people are going to be overloaded, confused, mislead and boy oh boy what a recipe for disaster….that was the flash cards in my minds eye before me, summer of 1991.
Faaassstt forward to today – it is exactly what I predicted – many people made and still make millions using the www, many people are mislead and misguided by information overload…who/what/where …why ?
The hardest hit, human interaction is by far in the dumps. Not only adults – children too.
They are not learning basic social skills, but yet head down in lap looking and staring at a screen for hours so that they can retreat into their safe zones and not explore.
Sad.
For me having been around people in every job, career I have explored I like the internet I do not rely on it for much information, but I do enjoy the speed of information.
BUT it will never replace the way I feel about human interaction, seeing people, touching, talking and understanding them comes from contact. Being human.
Emails are often misread more times than not, video games are killing brain cells, way too much information in multiple directions causing people to be confused about basic things like food. Then you wanna scratch your head and say … huh ..where did my life go? Well it traveled right past you while you were surfing the web, confusing yourself and not living as simple as you possibly can, where you choose a machine over man to pick a doctor, a nanny, or even buy a house? NEVER buy real estate online. You should never spend your money so carelessly, that is what we do – let us do what we do.
WHY ? If we all contribute to replacing humans, we are shrinking our very own existence .. less jobs for one. If we support only large corporations and entities we contribute to the many store front vacancies in our own community. If we think getting a referral from a machine and not asking a neighbor or a friend … wait or even just walk in and meet someone new see if you jive on your own ..we have already lost the battle.
So .. I say, try something new, put down the phone for half day, go out – talk to the corner store person, drop off a shirt at the local dry cleaner, grab an ice cream at the truck parked on the park block, stop in to see a local friendly real estate professional and just make contact in your community. Best thing yet, ask a friend for a referral to something, anything see what they have to say .. because at the end of the day if WE do not stick together, WE will not have a community that is warm and friendly, inviting and caring , welcoming and sustainable. WE will be living in silence, with no stores to shop in and children with no social skills. That is so against our very own biology.
Get out there and say hello to your neighbor… I am waiting .. 362 Carroll Street – Tyler Vincent Real Estate is waiting for you to come in say Hi and have some tea.
