For years on end we hear these terms tossed around, the office, coaching programs, sales meetings heck even coffee shops ! So what does it all mean … ? Pretty much it’s exactly where you need to focus, if you are in sales, and not retail sales where people come to you for socks, shoes, clothing…but Insurance Sales, Real Estate Sale and perhaps even stock sales you want to look closely at your Sphere of Influence. This is your arena, your circle, not the office you are in. The office is simply a place where people like you go to, to execute a task, job or an assignment it’s not where the leads are or the money.
In every facet of life people are in their own Arena’s, once they step out they just blend in. No one recognizes on the streets if the person is a 100M dollar producer or 1M dollar producer, the average person could care less, unless YOU are obsessed with what others are doing and spending way too much time following people…you need to follow and focus on yourself, your sphere, your circle and make yourself the center of attention in that arena. The majority of sales is based on a few factors, product knowledge, marketing, and accessibility. If your production drops or is low look within, do not look over at the guy in the front row who seems to be busy all the time, stop spending countless precious time worried about what others are doing or saying, because they are only who they are in their Arena, The Arena can be a large corporation or company at..awards night, those awards matter inside those doors inside of that arena. That has no bearing on what you can accomplish, it is simply recognition for the level of DOLLARS earned, BIG DEAL and once they step outside of those doors they are just an average Joe.
Sales quotas are something most companies need to cover their overhead, most people the 80% of the world are natural at being competitive, and things appear to just go their way easily, but to the other 20% of the world, the creatives things are not so easy or clear, you get easily distracted by what “others” are doing, you wanna be like them, you know you can, you just are not sure how to – so you keep going back to school, taking new classes, learning more (not a bad thing) and procrastinate, you feel trapped, the gerbil in the wheel syndrome and seem to blame everything around you. The office, the energy, no one likes you, the leads go to others ….you name it I have heard it all before, but the bottom line is YOU – YOU are the only one that can change that..First step is to STOP looking over your shoulders and start doing the work. Create your own circles, use your Sphere and be the center of your very own Arena. Start today because your life is waiting !
